Petunia

Introduction

Petunia graduated top of her class at the Wizarding college at Waterdeep and soon after married Dain Ironsoul, a strong and skilled dwarven smithy. Of course that was 80 years ago and Petunia has not had much time for magic that did not benefit the household since then. Dain was often away commissioned by kingdoms to create intricate and valuable works of metallurgy. Petunia had welcomed the life of homemaker. She found joy in everyday life and together, her and Dain raised their children to seek after their ambitions whole heartedly. So it came as no surprise that when they flourished into adulthood they each left home and sought greatness in their crafts.

Dain and Petunia found themselves as empty nesters but they continued finding joy and purpose in each other. Dain, still young for a dwarf, was finding he had unexpectedly grown frail and weak. A local cleric had diagnosed Dain with an aging curse. The curse must have been placed at birth but nobody knew by whom. Dain, knowing he was going to die in a few short years spent much of his time crafting as many trinkets and fine works as his failing body would allow. The rest of his time was spent with Petunia. At the young dwarven age of 100, Dain died of old age. Petunia found herself widowed and alone in a house built for a family.

While clearing out some old belongings she came across her dusty old spellbook from college and she remembered how Dain chose to spend his final years. She vowed then that she would spend her last years, full of excitement and adventure. Gifting their house to her eldest daughter, Petunia set out to the Waterdeep adventuring Guild. The guild leaders laughed her right out the door.

Head hung in embarrassment, Petunia left the guild hall only to discovered a flyer blowing in the wind. The Flyer red: "ADNVENTURERS WANTED All SKILL LEVELS" and bore the seal of N.O.D.E. Petunia noted that the flyer mentioned nothing of age.
