Shadow Injector

Insect-like creatures found clinging to the Great Mushroom in the Feywild, working in pairs to inject necrotic shadow into the fungal structure. Six were discovered attached to the smallest mushroom in the cluster, driving something dark into its surface and spreading the same Shadowfell corruption seen on the Great Tree.

When killed, the dark smoke they had been injecting billowed free and coalesced into a larger shadow entity — vast, hungry, and deeply wrong. This smoke creature pulled shadows from thin air, spawned lesser kin from its own substance, and attacked with patient, grinding violence.

The party ambushed the injectors and destroyed the resulting shadow entity. Where each creature had fallen, the necrotic tissue shrank back and the mushroom began to heal.

Their presence confirms that the Shadowfell corruption is not limited to the Great Tree — it is spreading to the other anchor points in the planar network.
