Spore Blob

A mobile fruiting body of the Gestalt's mycelium — a pale, vaguely spherical mass roughly the size of a barrel, slick with the same oil-slick sheen that coats the walls of the monastery. Spore blobs peel themselves off a thick patch of growth when prompted and ooze toward a target along the floor or wall, leaving a faintly luminous trail of mycelium behind them.

In combat they move slowly but persistently. When struck, they may rupture and spray a fine cloud of poison around themselves in a wide cone; fire is especially effective at causing them to cook off this way, often igniting and exploding into a shower of poisonous mist.

A new blob will often peel off the nearest wall to replace one that has been destroyed, so long as the parent growth is intact. Burning the parent growth back significantly slows the rate of replacement.

The Gestalt is occasionally able to speak from within a blob — though its voice is fainter from a spore than from a husk, and stranger.
