Deck of Illusions

A worn deck of cards lifted from the belt of a long-dead pirate cocooned in the head of the Gestalt's biomass beneath the mountain monastery. The cards smell faintly of salt and very old paper.

Properties: The deck contains a number of cards. As an action, draw a card at random and throw it down. An illusion of one or more creatures forms over the thrown card and remains until dispelled. The illusory creature appears real, of the appropriate size, and behaves as if it were the creature depicted — but cannot inflict damage, change the environment, or speak the language of the world; the illusion deals only psychic damage to any creature that interacts with it as if real and discovers the lie. A creature that uses its action to physically or visually inspect the figure identifies it as illusory with a successful Investigation check against a DC equal to 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus.

The drawn card disappears when the illusion ends. A vanished card reappears in the deck after 1 hour.

The original owner pulled this from the wreck of a Brakamite settler ship that found the monastery before the Gestalt found them.
