Token of Courage

A small bone charm strung on a thin leather strap, blessed by the lizardfolk tribe's shaman. Worn around the neck, a token of courage grants its bearer a single chance to shake off the grip of fear or enchantment — one use, then the bone shatters and the blessing is spent.

The Tidefang's crew each carried one. Of the five found dead in the deep chamber, every recovered token had been broken. Whatever courage the shaman's blessing offered, it had not been enough. A whole token was recovered from the ship's bookshelves alongside the lizardfolk scroll case, the one charm that had not been called upon.
