El
A male pixie of authority and theatricality, El presides over the fairy ring near the Great Mushroom. He wears a top hat and carries a cane, surveying guests with the satisfied expression of a host whose surprise has landed precisely as intended.
El operates with the manners of a courtier and the instincts of a game master. He welcomed the party to an elaborate feast, assessed who ate and who abstained, noted who gave their names and who withheld them, and judged the results with enigmatic precision.
The Feast: El appeared after the party stumbled into the fairy ring and was shrunk to pixie scale. He produced a grand table of Feywild food, presided over introductions with strict etiquette, and watched the party's choices with genuine delight. He corrected Lola sharply when she spoke out of turn — a correction that produced a flash of fear.
He declared that Shadow and Helena had "broken the rules of the game" and gave them sealed pieces of paper. After the feast, he cleared the table and mandated a dance.
The Departure: When the party tried to leave, Quick and Rowan found the boundary solid — El informed them they had "partaken in everything" and were "one of us now." He relented after they insisted on leaving, but warned it would "offend our people." He gave them black paper sealed in red, and let them pass without the burning threshold the others endured.
Kouzlo also received a sealed paper as he crossed the boundary.
El's warmth appears genuine, but so does his understanding that everything in the Feywild is a game — and he knows all the rules.
