The Gestalt Below

The Order of the Long Death built their monastery as a deliberate cage over a well that opened into the Underdark. The cage was a ring of six pylons surrounding a central biomass. The party activated the cage and severed the head of what had grown into it — but the main body of the Gestalt withdrew through the floor before the trap could close, retreating down a shaft that goes a very long way down.

The cage now sits empty over an exposed hole. Nothing is watching it. The Gestalt is not destroyed; it has been interrupted.

Open questions:

• How far down does the shaft go?
• What does the Gestalt look like at its true size, away from the prison it grew into?
• Whose voices does it have at the bottom?

The descent has not been attempted.
