The Northern Woods Still Walk

The mycelium that the Gestalt extended into the world from beneath the monastery did not die when the cage closed on its head. The party fought two walking stags on the road from the wizards' tower to the monastery, and saw signs of the infestation as far south as the woods between the two sites. Ahmed Noke first reported animals he knew to be dead walking in those woods months before N.O.D.E. arrived in the Wildermarch at all.

The party burned out the monastery's interior with torches and cleared its inner chambers. They did not sweep the surrounding forest.

Whatever bodies the Gestalt had already taken, and whatever spore-trails it had already laid in the soil, remain. Travelers on the northern road should expect to meet things they will recognize as having been alive.
