Elarie Quickquill
Introduction
Elarie Quickquill has never been one for going on adventures. What her brothers (11 in total) called adventure was usually just stirring up trouble with a neighboring warren or lurking through an abandoned mine that had more cobwebs than it had any chance for something heroic. Instead she choose to read of real adventure. Tales of knights, wizards, druids and the dragons and villains they fought! She could find more adventure in one chapter than her family had found in years of looking! Or so she thought...
She knew there was something different one night when her brothers came home very quiet and wouldn't share what they had found. Their strange behavior had piqued even her interest, but when she asked what happened she was only met with silence and a dozen shoulder shrugs. Frustrated, she went to bed early.
When she woke, her world changed forever. Her parents and brothers were all still in bed. One by one, she checked on them and found each cold and unable to wake. Two were missing, but each other member of her family was dead. After two days of misery, she resolved to put them to rest and start to try and piece together what came next.
When she went to the neighboring warren, she was shocked to find them all in the same state. What had happened and why was she spared?
After many failed attempts to find help at some local farms, she found some laborers in a town nearby that were willing to bury her family. She gave nearly every coin she had to get the job done, but needed to know they were resting. Her family buried, two brothers missing, and barely a copper to her name she didn't know what she could do, but she knew no answers would be found here.
While in town, she had head people talking of a new expedition group, exploring parts of the world that were unknown. Maybe it was missing her adventuring family, or maybe it was the thought that surely, they would need someone to tell their tales, but she knew it was the place for her to go. She once again packed as much as she could carry and set off to tell the tales of the next age of explorers... and maybe even go on an adventure or two herself.
What We've Learned
Elarie arrived at the N.O.D.E. camp by ship, immediately vowing never to set foot on a boat again after the crossing. She was the first to be greeted by Rutherford Hootie, who gifted her a book.
On her first day, she suggested building an aqueduct from the river to camp - a suggestion that was immediately implemented. She also proposed turning the damaged ship at the dock into a permanent structure, giving Chef Simon a real kitchen.
She keeps a journal of her experiences in the Wildermarch, documenting the strange new faces and her hesitant steps toward becoming an adventurer.
