The Bow of the Horizon
A bow of deep, blood-dark wood, its string woven of fine linen rather than gut or sinew. When Thalen first looked into the chest from which it was drawn, he had the distinct sense that the bow was looking back at him — and that it had been waiting for a hand it had not yet held.
Recovered from the Coffer of Equivalent Exchange in the Sunken Pyramid alongside the Bracelet of the Cobra and the Ring of Mind Shielding, in trade for a collection of items freely offered by the party.
Properties (requires attunement): Functions as an Oathbow. The bow whispers in Elvish: "Swift defeat to my enemies." When the wielder nocks an arrow and names a creature visible within 30 feet as a sworn enemy, the bow's magic binds them in a hunt:
- Only one sworn enemy at a time. The bond lasts until the enemy dies or until seven days pass; a new enemy may be named after the next dawn.
- Advantage on ranged weapon attack rolls against the sworn enemy
- The sworn enemy gains no benefit from cover (other than total cover) against the wielder's ranged attacks
- No disadvantage from attacking at long range
- Each hit against the sworn enemy deals an extra 3d6 piercing damage
- While the sworn enemy is alive, the wielder has disadvantage on attack rolls with all other weapons
The bow shattered the king-golem's clay heart on the first arrow, releasing the third syllable of the hag's true name.
