Ahmed Noke

A middle-aged human transmuter, bag-eyed and sleep-starved, formerly the apprentice to the elf Finothere Shinebright. Noke spent years doing the labor of a master while his teacher signed the work and took the credit — a grievance recorded in painful detail in a journal Quick later recovered, which doubled as a burn book against Finothere and an unsettlingly thorough catalog of his preferred bedsheets.

Noke eventually seized Finothere's wand and used it to transmute his master into a sheep, claiming the treehouse for himself. When the party arrived to return the sheep, Noke tried to bluff them out, then teleported to his bedroom and counterattacked with a transmuted bed-dragon construct. The wand, already cracked and sparking, was barely held together with tape; he used it to animate furniture and enlarge the dragon before Quick brought him down with a barrage of arrows.

Offered a different path by Jorath and Kouzlo, Noke accepted a probationary place among the N.O.D.E. wizards — collaboration in exchange for the freedom to leave at any time. He also offered the remains of the treehouse to N.O.D.E. as a forward facility and acknowledged that recreating its teleportation rooms to link the site to camp would be difficult, but possible.
