S'shar
Captain of the Tidefang, the lizardfolk's largest vessel. S'shar was Kessara's warm-scale — the two had planned to hatch a clutch together upon his return.
A letter written in Draconic was found inside the belly of a sea serpent — a love note from S'shar to Kessara. He wrote of the sea's cruelty, of deep-beasts that crawl inside the mind and whisper without words, and of his desperate hope of returning home. The letter was translated by Mel and delivered to Kessara, who received it with alarm.
The Tidefang was found by N.O.D.E. in a tidal sea cave on the southern coast. S'shar's logbook, written in Draconic, told the story: fair winds turned to a storm that drove the ship into the cave; a shape in the deep water, long as the ship, that never surfaced; then the disappearances. Crew vanished from watch one at a time — spear left leaning, bedroll untouched, no tracks, no blood, no struggle. The alarm net they rigged across the cave mouth never sounded. Whatever took them did not come from outside.
S'shar noted in the log that the whispers in his head went quieter deeper in the cave — the stone dulls it somehow. The party later confirmed it: ribbons of dense galena, rich in lead, threaded through the deep chamber, dulling the aboleth's psychic call. A refuge that became a tomb. The final entry described cairns for the lost — no bodies, only names — and a plan to retreat to the deepest chamber and sail out with the next high tide.
They never made it. The party found five lizardfolk dead in the deep chamber, crushed by the chuul that guarded the water there. S'shar was among them. The fallen were wrapped in their bedrolls and carried home aboard the Tidefang.
