The Pink Swamps
Vibrant pink-hued swamplands to the south, visible from the mountains. Home to lizardfolk who the hermit Grit described as "good people." The swamp is surprisingly alive — insects, frogs, deer — and dominated by unusual pink-leafed trees with reddish wood that resemble oversized bonsai. The branches move when unobserved.
A letter recovered from cultists in the corrupted cave mentioned reinforcements delayed by lizardfolk attacks, suggesting the lizardfolk actively oppose cult activity in their territory.
The Fallen Star: According to Kessara, a star fell from the sky long ago and landed in this place. It is the source of the swamp's life and abundance — the pink trees feed off its power. Unrefined crystals of the same type the party has encountered at cult sites jut from the ground below the surface, wrapped in roots corresponding to the pink trees above.
Cult Activity: The Cult of the Whispering Stars raided the lizardfolk village, slaughtering inhabitants and taking hostages. They established an underground chamber beneath a clearing with tiered basin-pedestals, where cultists refined the raw crystals into the polished form seen at other sites. The party destroyed the cultists, freed the prisoners, and collapsed the chamber.
The Pedestal Puzzle: A second clearing features tiered pedestals with levers and a riddle about "the Watcher's Eye." Solving the sequence (top row right to left, bottom row left to right, then the central "pupil") opens a staircase underground. Getting it wrong triggers a psychic attack.
