Cult of the Whispering Stars
A widespread cult operating throughout the Wildermarch, serving something vast beneath the waves. Members wear star-speckled robes and bear star-shaped symbols with eyes at each point.
Activities:
- Operating necromantic crystals that transform the dead into sea spawn
- Performing rituals to birth psionic aberrations
- Establishing outposts in caves and caverns across the region
- Willingly sacrificing themselves crying "I give myself to you!"
Known sites:
- Corrupted cave (destroyed)
- Mountain cavern (destroyed)
- Coral Forest crystal (destroyed)
- Underwater tower (intact, location known)
- Underground castle beyond bugkin tunnels (intact, tunnel collapsed)
- Pink Swamps crystal chamber (destroyed, collapsed)
Capabilities:
- At least one cultist carried a potion (vibrant purple liquid) that causes grotesque physical transformation — muscles bulging, growing stronger as damaged
- A dwarven cultist wielded a staff capable of casting a wave of decay that both damaged enemies and healed allies
- Cultists are capable of refining raw crystals into the polished form used at ritual sites
The Truth: The cult serves an elder Aboleth — a being older than all others that witnessed creation itself. The cult's goal is the unification. Cultists are permanently charmed by Aboleth magic, bound so deeply that their past selves are erased. Silas, the captured cultist, could not remember his own life before the cult. The Aboleth speaks through its puppets at will, their eyes flaring red when it surfaces.
The stars are watching.
